El peligro de este material se encuentra en su combusti\u00f3n, ya que a temperatura ambiente es l\u00edquido y a alta temperatura es un gas.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2354\" title=\"poliuretano\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/poliuretano.jpg?resize=480%2C296\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/poliuretano.jpg?w=480&amp;ssl=1 480w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/poliuretano.jpg?resize=300%2C185&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n a este gas incoloro que tiene un notable olor a almendra pudiera causar respiraci\u00f3n entrecortada, espasmos musculares e incremento en el ritmo card\u00edaco, posiblemente hasta 100 latidos por minuto. El colapso es a menudo repentino. Una atm\u00f3sfera que contenga 135 partes por mill\u00f3n (0,0135 por ciento) es fatal dentro de 30 minutos, una concentraci\u00f3n de 270 ppm es fatal. Casi todas las pruebas realizadas con materiales usados en el interior de las aeronaves, almacenes de ropa, etc. reflejaron la producci\u00f3n de cierta cantidad de cianuro de hidr\u00f3geno.<\/p>\n<p>En un incendio con este tipo de material lo ideal (no pudiendo apartar el material del fuego) es dejar que el incendio se extinga por s\u00ed mismo, si se trata de una peque\u00f1a cantidad, si no, atacar y apagar con polvo, agua pulverizada, espuma, di\u00f3xido de carbono.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2353\" title=\"incendio\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/incendio.jpg?resize=446%2C258\" alt=\"\" width=\"446\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/incendio.jpg?w=446&amp;ssl=1 446w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/teoriadeconstruccion.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/incendio.jpg?resize=300%2C173&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>El caso que m\u00e1s nos afecta es el poliuretano (PUR). Las espumas de poliuretano contienen principalmente carbono, hidr\u00f3geno, ox\u00edgeno y menos de un 10 % de nitr\u00f3geno. Por tanto, en el gas de combusti\u00f3n se encuentra di\u00f3xido de carbono, mon\u00f3xido de carbono y agua como principales constituyentes, junto con productos de oxidaci\u00f3n y cianuro de hidr\u00f3geno en menor concentraci\u00f3n. Los compuestos hal\u00f3genos pueden ser ignorados, ya que la espuma generalmente contiene cantidades de menos del 0,1 % en peso. Si bien es cierto que el uso de retardantes de llama halogenados incrementa el contenido de hal\u00f3genos en la espuma, este hecho no altera significativamente el balance de los productos generados en el incendio.<\/p>\n<p>Mientras que los gases de combusti\u00f3n producidos a partir de madera act\u00faan a trav\u00e9s de su contenido en mon\u00f3xido de carbono, con la espuma de poliuretano hay una acci\u00f3n combinada de mon\u00f3xido de carbono y cianuro de hidr\u00f3geno. Con una acusada falta de ox\u00edgeno, el contenido en cianuro de hidr\u00f3geno en el gas de combusti\u00f3n aumenta. Para lana y cuero, hay cantidades relevantes medibles a partir de 300 \u00baC, mientras que para espumas de poliuretano esto ocurre \u00fanicamente en un rango de 500 \u2013 600 \u00baC. Si, por otra parte, existe un adecuado suministro de aire, generalmente la concentraci\u00f3n de cianuro de hidr\u00f3geno cae a partir de 600 \u00baC en adelante.
